LENT 2016

For this upcoming Lenten Season why not do something different? The Christian Formation Committee has come up with the following theme: “Be an Intentional Christian” for Lent.  Below are the four areas we are going to concentrate on and help you with different resources.  Some will be large group and some will be small group.  Some things you can do as a family and some you can do on your own.  More information and details will be forthcoming over the next few Sundays as we approach Ash Wednesday.  Below is an outline of the four areas we are going to be concentrating on during Lent.  We are asking you to start thinking about Lent now – to BE AN INTENTIONAL CHRISTIAN for six weeks.  Let’s all do this together and see what happens.  We might just surprise ourselves!

Here are the areas we are going to be concentrating on:

FASTING & ABSTINENCE

Abstinence lowers the quality of food (usually by not eating meat) and fasting lowers the quantity, and usually means not more than a light breakfast, one full meal, and one half meal daily each fast day.  Could also be something besides food.

PRAYING – DAILY OFFICES

For the forty days of Lent, start and end each day with prayer. Read Morning and Evening Prayer and/or Family Prayer. Dust off that old grace you used to say before eating.

BIBLE AND BOOK STUDY

Small groups are being organized/developed for Lent.  Please think about joining one.
